TEAM United FC claimed the championship title in the Church Futsal Brothers competition held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva over the weekend. They secured their victory with a 2-0 win against Jordan United in an electrifying final that thrilled fans and supporters alike.

Shamyen Stanelly Mudaliar, the Media and Production officer of CFB, expressed appreciation for the successful execution of the event. He emphasized the exciting matches, commendable sportsmanship, and the peaceful atmosphere that characterized the tournament. The sense of unity and fellowship among the participating churches, both during and after the games, greatly impressed the organizing Committee.

“By God’s grace, the competition went very well. The weekend was filled with exciting futsal, strong sportsmanship, and a peaceful environment,” Mudaliar remarked. He further noted that the highlight for the Committee was witnessing the cooperation and camaraderie between churches, reflecting the honor displayed both on and off the court.

The event attracted an encouraging turnout with 16 teams participating and numerous spectators filling the FMF Gymnasium. “Our main aim is to spread the Word of God and bring churches together in unity. Futsal serves as the platform, but Jesus remains the focal point, gathering believers to celebrate His name, foster friendships, and strengthen faith and fellowship,” Mudaliar stated.

Among the notable teams, Team Calvary Young Men’s FC from Calvary Temple distinguished themselves through their exemplary discipline, positive attitude, and respect for others. Their conduct embodied the core values of unity and fellowship that CFB seeks to promote.

Looking ahead, the Committee is already in the planning stages for the next edition of the competition, tentatively scheduled for the first week of June, pending confirmation of the venue. Their goal remains to enhance CFB as a platform for churches to gather, fellowship, and glorify Christ.

In a heartfelt message to all who attended, the Committee expressed gratitude for their participation. They extended their thanks to players, churches, supporters, volunteers, referees, and sponsors for their invaluable contributions to an event that transcended the spirit of sport.
