Broadcaster Chris Wallace, known for his prominent role at CNN, is putting his Washington, D.C. home on the market for $6.4 million just days after announcing his departure from the network. This Georgian Revival residence has been a cherished family home for 27 years, purchased by Wallace and his wife, Lorraine, for $1.1 million in 1997 when they were newly married.
The property, located in the upscale Kalorama neighborhood of the nation’s capital, is notable for its distinguished brick exterior, columned entrance, and slate roof. The area has become renowned for attracting high-profile residents, including Jeff Bezos, former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Kalorama has historical significance as well, housing former presidents like Woodrow Wilson, William Howard Taft, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warren Harding, and Herbert Hoover.
Built in 1929, the expansive home features four bedrooms and five bathrooms, with nearly 5,000 square feet of living space. The first floor offers formal living spaces adorned with arched doorways, hardwood flooring, and elegant crown molding. Among the home’s most inviting features are a cozy wood-paneled study and a living room highlighted by an exquisite 18th-century marble fireplace. Throughout their time in the home, Wallace and Lorraine have made several updates, including a chic all-white kitchen that served as a testing ground for Lorraine’s cookbooks, such as the popular “Mr. Sunday’s Saturday Night Chicken.” Wallace mentioned that he and Lorraine hosted notable guests, including the late Senator Ted Kennedy, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and actor George Clooney.
Looking ahead, Wallace is transitioning from cable news to focus on podcasts and streaming platforms. He and Lorraine are planning to downsize to a smaller home in D.C. while also spending much of their time in Annapolis, Maryland, where Lorraine operates a small business supplying local restaurants with produce.
This new chapter may open doors to exciting opportunities for Wallace as he pivots his career while also symbolizing a fresh start for the couple. Transitioning to a different medium could allow him to engage with audiences in innovative ways, potentially enhancing his influence in the media landscape.
