The cast of HBO’s acclaimed series The White Lotus continues to expand, with reports indicating that Chris Messina is in preliminary negotiations to join the next season. Although a final agreement has yet to be reached, insiders reveal that Messina has received an offer.
HBO has not commented on the matter.
If Messina finalizes his deal, he will join previously announced cast members Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka. Additionally, actress Helena Bonham Carter is reportedly in talks to be part of the ensemble, although HBO has not officially confirmed her involvement.
Casey Bloys, the Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, confirmed in November that casting for the upcoming season has commenced. While specific plot details remain under wraps, it is believed that filming will take place in Saint-Tropez as one of the settings for the new season, which is set to unfold in France. Production is expected to kick off this spring.
While specifics about Messina’s character are not yet known, sources suggest he could play a significant role opposite Carter, sparking interest among other actors for the part. The casting for The White Lotus consistently attracts both established and emerging talent. The most recent season, set in Thailand, featured stars such as Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, and Sam Rockwell, resulting in eight acting Emmy nominations.
Messina, recognized for his performances in projects like Air and The Newsroom, recently completed filming the World War II film Pressure alongside Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser. He has also appeared in Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2.
With its impressive cast and esteemed reputation, the upcoming season of The White Lotus is generating considerable anticipation among fans and critics alike.
