Chris Brown has been arrested once again, this time in Manchester, England, early Thursday morning. The arrest stems from allegations that he assaulted music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle during a nightclub incident in London back in February 2023.
According to the Metropolitan Police, Brown, 36, was taken into custody at the Lowry Hotel as part of an investigation into the “grievous bodily harm” incident. Police confirmed that they are pursuing the case related to an altercation that occurred at a venue in Hanover Square on February 19, 2023, and that detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit are in charge of the investigation.
In October 2023, Diaw filed a lawsuit claiming that Brown caused him significant physical harm during the altercation. The lawsuit states that Brown struck Diaw over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 and proceeded to stomp on him, resulting in injuries that required hospitalization, including “lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg.”
Diaw’s filing also alleges that post-incident, Brown engaged in “defamatory conduct,” spreading false rumors about him, which allegedly harmed his professional reputation.
This arrest marks yet another chapter in Brown’s extensive history with legal issues, which has included a guilty plea to felony assault against his former girlfriend, Rihanna, in 2009, and a restraining order issued to his ex Karrueche Tran in 2017 after incidents of aggression.
