Chloe Kitts Injury Clouds South Carolina’s Season

Chloe Kitts, a key player on the South Carolina women’s basketball team, is reportedly facing an injury as the 2025-26 season approaches. The senior forward was recently spotted using crutches and wearing a full leg brace on her right leg during a home volleyball game against Georgia.

While the extent of her injury remains unclear, sources indicate that Kitts hopes to avoid surgery and continue participating in the season. It is not yet confirmed if she sustained the injury during practice or if it relates to a pre-existing condition. Local media last observed Kitts actively engaging in practice on September 22, the first day of the preseason.

As of Monday afternoon, the South Carolina team spokesperson did not have updated information on Kitts’ condition, leaving fans to speculate about her status for the upcoming games. There has been particular concern surrounding her availability for the season opener against Anderson on October 24.

Kitts just completed an impressive season, averaging 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, and was awarded the MVP title in the SEC Tournament. During the tournament, she showcased her skills, averaging 16.7 points and 7.7 rebounds that led the Gamecocks to a championship victory. Additionally, she recorded the program’s ninth triple-double this past season during a game against Ole Miss.

As she is seen as a potential first-round pick in the upcoming 2026 WNBA Draft, Kitts’ ability to recover quickly will be crucial for both her future prospects and the Gamecocks’ performance this season. In her absence, South Carolina has options in forwards Joyce Edwards, Madina Okot, Maryam Dauda, and Adhel Tac, especially since Ashlyn Watkins has taken a year off from basketball.

With the season on the horizon, the Gamecocks remain hopeful for Kitts’ swift recovery and continued impact on the team as they work to defend their title and aim for further success in the NCAA Tournament.
