Chloe Kim, the accomplished two-time gold medalist in snowboarding, is gearing up to represent Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics despite suffering a shoulder injury during training. In recent updates, Kim, who is among over 230 athletes on the team, has expressed optimism about her recovery, stating she is “good to go” for the upcoming Games.
The shoulder injury occurred while Kim was training in Switzerland, where a fall caused her to dislocate her shoulder. In an Instagram post dated January 8, she shared, “I took the silliest fall and that ultimately resulted in me dislocating my shoulder.” After her injury, she began wearing a shoulder brace and committed to a rehabilitation regime.
On January 13, she revealed on social media that she had torn her labrum, the lining of the shoulder socket, but remained positive about her situation. “There are two ways to do it, and the way I did it is less severe than the other, so I’m really happy about that,” she noted, acknowledging the challenges of limited snowboarding practice leading up to the Olympics. Nevertheless, Kim’s determination shines through as she shared her journey of recovery, posting workout videos and enjoying some self-care at home in Los Angeles.
Looking ahead, Kim is scheduled to compete in the women’s Olympic halfpipe event, set to begin on February 11. Given her track record and talent, she remains a strong favorite to clinch another gold medal in Italy, provided she can maintain her health and fitness. Chloe Kim’s resilience and commitment to her sport inspire many, and her presence in the Olympics is sure to captivate fans worldwide.
