Richard Childress, the owner of Richard Childress Racing (RCR), expressed frustration with his team’s performance during a recent team radio exchange. As the owner celebrated a long career, including 117 wins and six championships all secured by the legendary driver Dale Earnhardt, he voiced his dissatisfaction following RCR’s struggles in the current season.
The 2025 season has been particularly challenging for RCR, which fields two full-time cars. The No. 8 car is driven by the multi-time champion Kyle Busch, while the No. 3 is piloted by Austin Dillon. To date, RCR has managed only two top-five finishes, both achieved by Busch, a stark contrast to Childress’s extensive record of 534 top-five finishes as an owner.
Following the race at Dover, Childress took to the team radio with a rallying cry for his drivers and crew. He began by commending their efforts, saying, “Way to keep fighting guys,” but did not hold back with his criticism, calling for significant improvements. “We gotta get some damn racecars. I’ve seen enough out of drivers and teams. We got to work on this shit. Period,” he stated, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the team’s issues.
Despite the current downtrend, it’s important to note that Childress remains optimistic about his team’s potential and their ability to bounce back. With veteran drivers like Busch at the wheel, there is always the possibility of improvement in upcoming races.
