The Kansas City Chiefs continued their winning streak, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 22-17 on “Sunday Night Football.”

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs traveled to Atlanta off a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, where a controversial pass interference call helped set up the game-winning field goal. They faced another close game in Week 3, but a fourth-quarter defensive stand against Bijan Robinson secured their third straight win of the season.

The game was marked by another contentious pass interference situation when some argued that Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts was interfered with by Chiefs safety Bryan Cook during a prior possession. However, officiating crews chose not to make the call.

Atlanta proved to be a formidable foe, rebounding from a tough Week 1 loss to the Steelers with a narrow win over the Eagles. While Kirk Cousins struggled for the most part, he managed to drive the Falcons down the field when it mattered, ultimately connecting with Drake London to tie the score before Younghoe Koo’s extra point gave Atlanta a brief lead.

Despite holding two offensive linemen out for the second half, Atlanta had two opportunities to reclaim the lead but fell short on both occasions.

Concerns arose when Mahomes appeared to slip awkwardly during the game, but he reassured fans he was fine post-game, attributing it to a misstep on the turf.

As for the game’s highlight moments, Rashee Rice emerged as a key receiver for Kansas City, racking up 12 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. Carson Steele provided solid ground support in place of the injured Isiah Pacheco, tallying 72 yards.

The Falcons’ fourth-down attempts proved troublesome, with one being off-center to the left side, leading to a loss of yards that ultimately allowed the Chiefs to run out the clock.

As the game unfolded, penalties loomed large, with the Chiefs facing multiple flags that nearly shifted momentum to the Falcons. A critical moment came when the Chiefs punted on a three-and-out after a miscommunication between Mahomes and rookie receiver Xavier Worthy, giving Atlanta a chance to retake the lead in the closing minutes.

The game featured a close finish, as Koo managed to hit a 54-yard field goal, keeping the Falcons within striking distance, but Kansas City’s defense held strong to secure the victory.

With this win, the Chiefs improved to a perfect 3-0, while the Falcons struggled to maintain consistency despite promising moments throughout the contest.
