The city of Cheyenne has released its schedule for sanitation services and facility operations for Memorial Day week, which falls on Monday, May 26. City offices will be closed that day, although the City Council is slated to meet the following day, Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m.
In terms of sanitation services, there will be a shift in the pickup schedule for the week: Monday’s garbage collection will occur on Tuesday, Tuesday’s collection on Wednesday, and so forth. Notably, the Solid Waste Transfer Station, Happy Jack Landfill, Compost Facility, and Household Hazardous Waste will all be closed on May 26 and Tuesday, May 27, respectively.
Residents are reminded to adhere to recycling guidelines by keeping materials unbagged, breaking down boxes into 2’ by 2’ sections, and bagging trash securely to prevent any debris from blowing out of containers.
Additionally, Cheyenne Transit program offices will be closed on Memorial Day, resulting in no bus services for that day. While the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens and Paul Smith Children’s Village will also close, residents can take advantage of open facilities such as the Cheyenne Aquatic Center, Cheyenne Ice and Events Center, Airport Golf Course, and Kingham Prairie View Golf Course, even as the Best Recreation Center remains closed.
This structured approach to holiday scheduling aims to ensure residents are informed and can plan accordingly during the holiday. It reflects the city’s commitment to maintaining services while respecting the significance of Memorial Day.
