The upcoming performance is part of the Stars on Stage series, with tickets still available for purchase.
Staci Weller, the CEO of Gloria Theatre, expressed excitement about adding “The Beat Goes On” to their lineup, stating, “We’ve had thousands of concert-goers super impressed by the quality of our shows. Lisa McClowry’s tribute to Cher is exceptional and promises a fantastic evening celebrating the Goddess of Pop with her incredible vocal talent and engaging personality.”
Earlier this year, McClowry performed the show in the region and shared in an interview with the Springfield News-Sun that while working on another tribute, she discovered her ability to embody Cher.
However, McClowry emphasizes that she does not wish to be seen merely as an impersonator; she considers herself a singer, actress, and producer, embodying values of female empowerment that Cher herself represents.
Cher rose to fame as a versatile performer, initially as part of the duo Sonny and Cher with her then-husband Sonny Bono and eventually as a successful solo artist. She also made her mark in film, winning an Academy Award for her role in “Moonstruck” in 1987, along with numerous accolades as both an actress and a singer, which includes achieving number-one singles across six decades.
McClowry’s tribute aims to authentically recreate Cher, focusing on her singing and speaking voice, distinctive walk, costumes, makeup, and mannerisms. The performance will feature iconic hits spanning all phases of Cher’s illustrious career.
Tickets for the show range from $32 to $47. For purchasing tickets or for more information, visit gloriatheatre.org. The Stars on Stage series will continue with a performance by the rhythm and blues group Uptown on November 15, wrapping up the season with a holiday show titled “Who Brought the HUMBUG?” on December 15.
