Chelsea’s Goalkeeper Gamble: Will Jörgensen Rise to the Challenge?

Chelsea has commenced the season with Robert Sánchez as the primary goalkeeper, sidelining Đorđe Petrović. The club has also signed Filip Jörgensen, again at Petrović’s expense, in accordance with coach Enzo Maresca’s specific needs. For Chelsea fans, an ideal opportunity for Jörgensen to make his debut arises tonight against Servette in the UEFA Conference League.

However, the selection of players for the match is quite competitive, with 17 players garnering over 35% of the votes from the community. Notably, only one non-goalkeeper received more than 70% approval. Malo Gusto shares the spotlight with several players reaching the 60% threshold: Levi Colwill, Moisés Caicedo, Roméo Lavia, Pedro Neto, and Cole Palmer. Other players like Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Marc Cucurella surpassed the 50% mark, while Benoit Badiashile also reached 50%, securing a spot in the 4-2-3-1 formation over KDH.

Marc Guiu (42%), Nicolas Jackson (39%), Enzo Fernández (39%), Renato Veiga (46%), Tosin Adarabioyo (41%), and Axel Disasi (35%) were close to the selection, while Josh Acheampong (17%), Carney Chukwuemeka (21%), Mykhailo Mudryk (29%), and Tyrique George (5%) fell short.

The preferred formation by the fans is 4-2-3-1, with the following lineup:

Jörgensen (82%) | Cucurella (57%), Badiashile (50%), Colwill (69%), Gusto (78%) | Lavia (65%), Caicedo (67%) | Neto (68%), Palmer (62%), Madueke (56%) | Nkunku (54%).
