Chelsea Midfielder Under Investigation for Alleged Racist Song – Read More About It!

Chelsea are investigating a video posted by midfielder Enzo Fernandez on social media that the French Football Federation (FFF) claims depicts them singing a racist song.

Fernandez shared the video on Instagram following Argentina’s Copa America victory over Colombia, showing him and his teammates chanting about the France national team.

Chelsea teammate Wesley Fofana reposted the video on social media with the caption: “Football in 2024: uninhibited racism.”

The FFF alleges that the song sung by Argentina’s national team is “racist and discriminatory.”

In a statement, they said: “The president of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, condemns in the strongest terms the unacceptable racist and discriminatory remarks made against the players of the French team in a song sung by players and supporters of the Argentina team after their victory in the Copa America, and broadcast in a video on social media.

“Given the seriousness of these shocking remarks, which are contrary to the values of sport and human rights, the president of the FFF decided to directly challenge his Argentinian counterpart and FIFA, and to file a legal complaint for insulting remarks of a racist and discriminatory nature.”

Argentina defeated France in a penalty shoot-out in the 2022 World Cup final, during which some fans were reportedly heard singing discriminatory songs, as reported by Sky Sports News.
