Chelsea has expressed interest in signing Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo during the upcoming January transfer window. Initially, the club had set its sights on acquiring a new striker in the summer, but now it appears they are aiming to expedite their plans. Chelsea has reached out to Semenyo’s representatives to discuss potential terms for a deal.

Semenyo, a Ghana international, has garnered attention from multiple clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, with Liverpool also showing admiration, as confirmed in previous reports. His current contract with Bournemouth runs until 2030 and includes a £65 million release clause that becomes available in January.

The 2025-26 season marks a fruitful period for Semenyo, who has netted eight goals and provided three assists in just 16 Premier League appearances. His value was estimated at £70 million in the summer, but the price has adjusted to £65 million for the winter transfer window. Notably, this release clause must be activated by a specific deadline, providing Bournemouth with a limited timeframe to seek a replacement for their standout player.

Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has also weighed in on Semenyo’s future, suggesting that it would be a natural progression for him to seek opportunities beyond Bournemouth. “He has done very well at Bournemouth, but with all the respect for Bournemouth and what they’re doing, surely it is natural for him to take the next step,” he stated following the World Cup draw.

Bournemouth has seen a significant turnover of players recently, having sold several key figures after a successful season under manager Andoni Iraola. Among those were centre-back Dean Huijsen, who moved to Real Madrid, and other players like Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi, and Dango Ouattara were also part of the departures.

Since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023, Semenyo has made 106 appearances for the club, tallying 30 goals and 13 assists, showcasing his potential as a talented forward. The unfolding transfer story reflects the competitive nature of the Premier League and the ongoing pursuit of talent as clubs seek to bolster their squads for the future.
