Nearly 11,000 residents of Chelan County are currently experiencing power outages, including the entire city of Leavenworth, which is completely without electricity. Chelan Public Utilities District (PUD) has reported a total of 13 outages affecting approximately 10,946 customers as of 9:30 a.m. The outages extend across multiple towns such as Peshastin, Chumstick, Lower Icicle Creek, Merrit, Plain, Dryden, Stehekin, Blewett Pass, First Creek – Lake Chelan, and North Shore Lake Wenatchee.

The estimated time for power restoration in Leavenworth is set for 6:00 p.m., with similar timelines for the other locations mentioned. However, Stehekin is expected to have power restored by 11:37 p.m., and Blewett Pass at around 9:40 p.m., while First Creek in Lake Chelan is projected to regain power by noon.

The outages have been attributed to strong winds that have led to downed trees and property damage across the area, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a High Wind Warning. This warning was put into effect at 5:02 p.m. on Wednesday and lasted until 4 a.m. on Thursday.

Residents have reported numerous incidents of fallen trees, with one viewer sharing a photo of a tree that had crashed onto a house. As the impact of the severe weather continues to unfold, local authorities and utility services are working diligently to restore power and ensure safety for all residents.

This situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
