The traumatic incident took place on November 5, 2024, as Dorzon and his long-distance girlfriend, Crystal Swan, were returning home from a date night at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. They had enjoyed a lovely evening, just as they had many times before, when their Uber was approached by several armed suspects. Dorzon instinctively shielded his girlfriend as the gunmen opened fire. Despite being critically injured, he managed to FaceTime his brother to alert him to the situation. Both Dorzon and Swan were shot, forcing them into a fight for survival until help arrived.
According to charging documents, the assailants stole items valued at around $100,000, including Dorzon’s luxury watch and necklace. One of the suspects, Devin Demetrius Spivey, faces multiple serious charges, including attempted murder, and has pleaded not guilty, with his trial set to begin in December.
Emerging from the traumatic ordeal, Dorzon faced an uphill battle in his recovery. Initially told he might never walk again due to severe injuries, he defied the odds after two months in the hospital, numerous surgeries, and extensive physical therapy.
