Ross Chastain is gearing up for his eighth appearance at the Coca-Cola 600 this Sunday. Currently sitting 11th in the NASCAR Cup Series points standings, Chastain and the No. 1 Trackhouse Racing team have faced challenges this season, particularly with a noticeable lack of speed in practice and qualifying sessions.
Acknowledging these hurdles, Chastain emphasizes the importance of securing positive finishing results each week. “Ultimately, all that matters is the finish on Sunday,” he shared. “Yes, we want all the other stuff, but you have to finish well. We did not do that at Kansas after feeling like we were better on Saturday.”
As he prepares for one of NASCAR’s premier events, Chastain admits uncertainty about what to expect. “I have no idea what to expect,” he commented. “That’s what’s great about the current car we have and the short practices. We don’t know. We build the best setup we think we can build and that’s it.” He believes that feeling comfortable with the car will be crucial for performance during the race.
In his previous seven starts at the Coca-Cola 600, Chastain has only achieved one top-10 finish, which was an eighth-place result this year in 2024. He and the Trackhouse Racing team are determined to improve their standing in this significant race, expressing a strong desire for better outcomes. “We want more,” Chastain stated, as he aims for success not just for himself but also for his teammates at Trackhouse.
The Coca-Cola 600 is set to get underway at approximately 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, with coverage available on Prime Video, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
This race marks a critical opportunity for Chastain and his team to showcase their skills, and with their resolve, fans can look forward to an exciting event.
