Charlotte Church recently opened up about her now-viral appearance on ITV’s This Morning, where she conducted a live sound bath session with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary. Despite the lighthearted moment that sent viewers into fits of laughter, Church admitted that Hammond’s giggling during the segment touched a sensitive nerve for her, revealing that it really “p***ed [her] right off.”

Reflecting on her feelings in a podcast episode of How To Fail with Elizabeth Day, the 39-year-old singer expressed that she initially felt her intention to showcase the art of sound healing was undermined by the playful banter. Church explained, “I think it was a misjudgment on my part to think, ‘let’s do a five-minute sound bath on national TV.’” She elaborated that it was frustrating for her to have something she values turned into a source of humor, stating, “I was given the opportunity to demonstrate this amazing art of sound healing… and it’s made a figure of fun.”

While Alison Hammond later apologized for her laughter, acknowledging it was the singing that had tickled her, Church’s reflections highlighted the deeper ramifications of the experience. She elaborated on the importance of sound healing at her wellness center, The Dreaming, in Wales, emphasizing its health benefits and the challenges of achieving relaxation in today’s fast-paced environment.

In the conversation, Church also touched on her past experiences with the music industry, voicing feelings of exploitation and a lack of nurture during her career. “I was totally exploited like I was a commodity,” she said, admitting to having made peace with these experiences by understanding the complex context around them.

Church’s candidness about both her professional struggles and personal wounds illustrates her journey of growth and self-awareness, providing inspiration to others who may have faced similar challenges in their lives.
