The Los Angeles Chargers are set to boost their chances in the postseason opener against the Houston Texans, with several key players returning to the field. Running back J.K. Dobbins (ankle), wide receiver Quentin Johnston (thigh/illness), and linebacker Denzel Perryman (groin) have all been confirmed as active after initially being listed as questionable.
Dobbins participated in practice throughout the week but was limited, while Johnston managed to take part in only two of the team’s three practice sessions. Perryman, however, demonstrated progress by being upgraded to a full participant as the week concluded.
On the downside, offensive tackle Trey Pipkins (oblique) will not play, having been inactive after being limited during practice.
Additionally, cornerback Eli Apple and receiver Simi Fehoko will play after being activated from the injured reserve just before the game. Meanwhile, several players, including receiver Joshua Palmer and running backs Kimani Vidal and Jaret Patterson, will not suit up for the game, with Stick listed as the Chargers’ emergency third quarterback.
On the Texans’ side, there were no surprises regarding inactive players. Defensive end Denico Autry (knee), receiver John Metchie (shoulder), and linebacker Christian Harris (ankle) will all be active despite their questionable statuses. However, they will be without guard Shaq Mason, guard Nick Broeker, defensive end Jerry Hughes, linebacker Devin White, and defensive tackle Kurt Hinish, who are inactive for the contest.
As the teams prepare for this critical matchup, the return of key players for the Chargers could make a significant difference in their performance, offering fans hope for a strong postseason run.
