Chargers Add LSU Alum Trayveon Williams to Practice Squad

The Los Angeles Chargers have added former Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams to their practice squad, as reported by multiple sources. Williams was originally drafted by the Bengals in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, being the 182nd overall pick. Throughout his career, he has experienced various changes, having been signed and released by both the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns since entering free agency at the conclusion of the 2024 season.

During his tenure with the Bengals, Williams participated in 68 games, with a notable 34 of those occurring in the last two seasons. His performance in 2023 included 15 carries for 69 rushing yards, along with seven receptions totaling 10 receiving yards. He also stepped up as the Bengals’ primary kick returner starting in Week 10 of the 2022 season, filling the role after an injury to Chris Evans.

Notably, Williams and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow played together during their college days, famously competing in the thrilling LSU-Texas A&M game in 2018, which resulted in a dramatic 74-72 victory for the Aggies.

This acquisition by the Chargers highlights their commitment to enhancing their roster as they continue to navigate the current season. The addition of a player with Williams’ experience and versatility could provide an invaluable boost for the Chargers moving forward.
