Chappell Roan confronted a photographer on the red carpet during the premiere of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts World Tour” movie in Los Angeles on Friday. The singer accused the photographer of being “disrespectful” to her at a previous Grammy event.
While posing for photos, Roan approached the photographer directly and stated, “You were so disrespectful to me at the Grammys. You yelled at me at a Grammy party.” Although the photographer was not visible on camera, he appeared to disagree with her account, responding, “Yes … I remember. You were so rude to me.”
Roan demanded an apology, saying, “I need an apology for that. Yeah, yep, you do… You need to apologize to me.” Following the exchange, a member of Roan’s team or the film’s public relations crew intervened to lead her back to the photo area and help calm the situation. Though she complied with the request, Roan refused to pose for the photographer in question.
This incident marks the second confrontation Roan has had with a photographer in recent months. In September, at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, she had a heated exchange with another cameraman, telling him to “shut the f–k up.”
Roan has been open about her struggles with mental health, particularly as her fame has increased. Recently, she revealed she has been diagnosed with severe depression, sharing that despite not feeling sad, she exhibits every symptom associated with the condition.
She explained how her passion for activities she once enjoyed now comes with challenges, stating that outings like thrifting require careful planning due to concerns about privacy and safety. Her struggles have also led to criticism and support from fans, as she has called out her own audience and canceled several shows to prioritize her mental health.
