Scarlet Renn and Grace Fiore both executed crucial fielder’s choice groundouts in the seventh inning, sealing the deal for Indiana. Pitching for Indiana, Briley Mercer outperformed North Carolina’s Makayla Montgomery in a fierce duel, and since Mercer only threw five innings, she will be available to pitch in Sunday’s championship.
