The Boston Celtics are once again demonstrating their dedication to community improvement through meaningful partnerships and events aimed at supporting local families. This past Saturday, January 31, the team, in collaboration with the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation (BCSF), Boston Medical Center, and Tufts Health Plan, hosted the Curbside Care Celebration at the Little Cocoa Bean Tot Cafe in Boston.

During the event, Tufts Health Plan, which is a part of Point32Health and the official health benefits provider for the Celtics, was introduced as the new presenting partner of the Curbside Care program. Celtics guard Derrick White participated in the celebration, sharing his personal connection to the initiative. “My wife was pregnant when I first got introduced to the program, so that’s originally what drew me to it,” White revealed. He emphasized the importance of the program and the impact it has on the community, stating, “Just learning more about what they do and seeing why it’s necessary has been cool to be a part of.”

The Curbside Care event featured various engaging activities centered around nutritional awareness, where participants engaged in interactive food preparation challenges that highlighted family nutrition needs. The program focused on using kid-friendly, health-conscious, and culturally inclusive ingredients. In addition to the activities, guests received essential childcare items, reinforcing the initiative’s goal of fostering family support and celebration.

An essential component of the Curbside Care program is its mobile maternal and infant health unit, which serves over forty postpartum patients and their newborns each week. This initiative aims to bridge access gaps to high-quality perinatal care for families in underserved communities throughout Boston, making it a vital resource for local residents.

The Celtics’ commitment to enhancing the well-being of Boston’s families through such initiatives not only uplifts the community but also fosters a sense of unity and support among its members. The efforts from the Celtics and their partners are pivotal in promoting health equity and improving local engagement.
