Celtics Fall to Pistons as Rebounding Woes Surface

The Boston Celtics are grappling with early-season challenges after suffering a 119-113 defeat to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday afternoon. This loss leaves the Celtics still in search of their first victory for the 2025-26 season. Although Boston showcased strong potential by leading by as many as 17 points in the first quarter, the Pistons surged back, scoring 70 points between the second and third quarters and ultimately thwarting a late comeback attempt by the Celtics.

Jaylen Brown shined in the match, leading all scorers with an impressive 41 points on 12-of-25 shooting. However, the Celtics’ struggles in rebounding once again proved detrimental, as they allowed Detroit a staggering 18 offensive rebounds, which translated into 30 second-chance points for the Pistons. Jalen Duren was particularly effective for Detroit, contributing 24 points and 17 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, while Cade Cunningham complemented the effort with 25 points and eight assists.

Looking ahead, the Celtics will aim to bounce back as they prepare to face off against the New Orleans Pelicans, who have yet to secure a win this season, on Monday night. Tune in to Celtics Postgame Live as Tom Giles, Eddie House, and Chris Forsberg dissect the game further, while Forsberg will provide additional insights in the latest Celtics Talk Podcast. Despite the setback, there remains optimism that the Celtics can turn their early-season struggles into learning opportunities as they seek to build momentum moving forward.
