Los Angeles — In a recent turn of events, Jordan Walsh has been removed from the Boston Celtics’ starting lineup for the first time this season and is reflecting on what he needs to improve upon. “I think just leaving a print on the game,” Walsh commented. He emphasized the importance of making his presence felt by the opposing team and their staff, ensuring that every moment he is on the court is impactful.

Walsh had been a steady presence in the starting lineup since November 12, starting 20 consecutive games for the Celtics. However, during a win over the Sacramento Kings, he only saw five minutes of play before being benched at halftime. Boston’s coach, Joe Mazzulla, chose to start Sam Hauser in the second half and continued with Hauser in the starting lineup for their upcoming game against the LA Clippers.

Although Walsh addressed the media before the announcement of this lineup change, he seemed to have an inkling that the decision was forthcoming. “It was definitely a good spurt (in the starting lineup) for sure, but staying even keel is what’s more important,” he stated, highlighting his ability to maintain focus through ups and downs. Reflecting on his journey, Walsh remarked, “I’m no stranger to this… I started where I had to always stay ready for my next opportunity.”

Mazzulla later clarified that the decision to bench Walsh was not an indication of poor performance. Instead, he mentioned the need for flexibility in utilizing the team’s various talents. “We can go to so many different things,” Mazzulla explained, pointing out Hauser’s contributions during the first half that influenced the team’s strategy.

This experience has motivated Walsh to step up his game. He acknowledged that being benched means he has work to do to enhance his impact on the court, stating, “I feel like if that was the case, I didn’t make my mark enough — or impactful enough — to stay out there.”

As Walsh prepares to respond to this challenge, his commitment to improvement is both promising and inspiring. The Celtics and their fans will be watching closely to see how he develops his game moving forward, hoping for a quick return to form for the promising young player.
