Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas have publicly supported Kamala Harris in her 2024 presidential campaign. The musicians announced their endorsement on Instagram on National Voter Registration Day, emphasizing the importance of voting.
“We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet, and our democracy,” Eilish stated in a video. She urged followers to “vote like your life depends on it, because it does.”
Finneas echoed her sentiment, saying, “We can’t let extremists control our lives, our freedoms, and our future. The only way to stop them and the dangerous Project 2025 agenda is to vote and elect Kamala Harris.”
The siblings encouraged fans to visit iwillvote.com to check their voter registration status and to create a plan for voting.
In the 2020 election, Eilish backed Joe Biden, speaking and performing at the Democratic National Convention, where she criticized then-President Donald Trump.
“You don’t need me to tell you things are a mess — Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything we care about. We need leaders who will solve problems like climate change and COVID — not deny them,” Eilish said during the pandemic-limited virtual convention, urging voters to support someone who understands the stakes.
This endorsement comes shortly after Taylor Swift’s support for Harris. Following Swift’s announcement, which gained traction after a presidential debate with Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump, nearly 400,000 people visited the government website vote.gov for voter registration and status checks.
Beyoncé has previously given Harris the rights to use her 2016 song “Freedom” as part of the campaign. Other artists, including Megan Thee Stallion, Bon Iver, Barbra Streisand, and John Legend, have also shown their support for the Harris-Walz ticket. Additionally, Pink, The Chicks, Lil Jon, and DJ Cassidy made appearances at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
