On November 8, the Catalan Handball Federation celebrated FC Barcelona during the 31st Fiesta of Catalan Handball. Joan Solé, the director in charge of the club’s handball section, accepted the prestigious award on behalf of FC Barcelona, acknowledging the numerous titles secured by the first team in the 2023/24 season. These titles include the Champions League, Liga ASOBAL, Copa del Rey, Copa Asobal, Supercopa Ibérica, and Supercopa de Catalunya, as well as achievements from the youth teams.
Additionally, Aleix Gómez and Petar Cikusa were honored for winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games, while Petar Cikusa, Djorde Cikusa, Ian Barrufet, and Òscar Grau received recognition for their performance as Junior European Champions.
The ceremony took place at the Les Moreres Municipal Sports Complex in Esplugues de Llobregat and was attended by nearly 400 guests, showcasing the strong community support for Catalan handball and the accomplishments of local athletes.
This event underscores the growing prominence of handball in Catalonia, and the recognition of both professional and youth teams highlights the future potential of the sport in the region.
