Latinos worldwide will come together tonight to honor their deceased loved ones and celebrate Día de Los Muertos, a vibrant holiday observed over the first two days of November. This joyous occasion recognizes the lives of those who have passed away through a variety of cultural traditions, including the creation of altars known as ofrendas.
Residents of Orange County can participate in the festivities this weekend through a wide array of free events organized by local museums, cities, cemeteries, libraries, and community groups.

On Friday, November 1, the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center will host a celebration featuring children’s crafts, live entertainment, and food trucks, along with an ofrenda display in the lobby from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 4802 Lakeview Ave., Yorba Linda.
At the Santa Ana Cemetery, guests can collect children’s crafts, Pan de Muertos, and marigold bouquets while ofrendas can be created at loved ones’ gravesites starting at 3:00 PM.
Mission San Juan Capistrano invites visitors to place photographs of loved ones on an altar that will be available for display from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The 2nd annual Día de Los Muertos celebration at Max Berg Plaza Park in San Clemente will take place from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, featuring altares, an art contest, traditional dances, and vendors.
On Saturday, November 2, attendees at Anaheim Cemetery from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM can enjoy mariachi and ballet folklorico performances, themed crafts, and more.
The Santa Ana’s Noche de Altares will run from noon to 10:00 PM, showcasing altars, live entertainment, and food vendors.
Other events will occur in Los Alamitos, Santa Ana (Viva La Vida), and Fullerton, with activities ranging from costume contests to family-friendly workshops.
Throughout Sunday and Monday, additional celebrations including crafts and performances will continue at local libraries and theaters.
