Catherine, Princess of Wales, announced on Monday that she has completed her chemotherapy treatment after revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. In a video shared on X, she expressed her relief at finishing the treatment, saying, “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.”
She described the past nine months as incredibly challenging for her family, noting the sudden changes life can bring. “The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” she said.
Catherine shared that the experience highlighted her vulnerabilities and offered a new perspective on life. She emphasized the importance of reflecting on and being grateful for the simple things many often take for granted.
While she has completed her chemotherapy, the Princess acknowledged that her recovery will continue to be a lengthy process. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she remarked.
She is eager to return to work and participate in public engagements when possible. “Despite everything that has happened, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life,” she added, expressing gratitude for the support her family has received during this time.
Catherine also reached out to those facing their own cancer battles, offering solidarity and encouragement, stating, “I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
In March, she disclosed her diagnosis following a planned abdominal surgery in January. Initially, it was believed her condition was noncancerous, but subsequent tests revealed cancer. She described the diagnosis as a significant shock for her and Prince William, and mentioned the need for time to explain the situation to their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
Since her diagnosis, Catherine made public appearances, including participating in Trooping the Colour in June and attending Wimbledon with Charlotte in July, where she received a warm welcome from the audience. In August, she featured in a video celebrating Team Great Britain for the upcoming Olympics and was seen at a church service in Scotland with King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
