Catherine O’Hara was honored posthumously with an Actor Award for her outstanding performance in a comedy series for her role in “The Studio.” The tribute took place during an emotional ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium, streamed live on Netflix, where co-creator Seth Rogen accepted the award on her behalf.

Rogen delivered a heartfelt speech, acknowledging the significance of this recognition for O’Hara, stating that she would have felt privileged to receive it among her fellow performers, who she admired greatly. He praised her remarkable ability to balance generosity and kindness while confidently showcasing her own talents.

Reflecting on O’Hara’s creative spirit, Rogen shared anecdotes about her dedication on set, recounting how she often rewrote her scenes and communicated directly with him and fellow co-creator Evan Goldberg the night before filming. He emphasized that she embodied the notion that genius and kindness can coexist.

O’Hara passed away in January at the age of 71 due to a pulmonary embolism related to rectal cancer. Her role in “The Studio,” which was her last performance, showcased her unique comedic wit as she portrayed Patty Leigh, a former head of Continental Studios who transitions to producing after being replaced by her mentee, played by Rogen.

In an impressive achievement, O’Hara became the first woman to receive an individual Actor Award posthumously from the Screen Actors Guild, a milestone in the awards’ history. She had also been nominated alongside her co-star Kathryn Hahn, fellow actors Jean Smart, Jenna Ortega, and Kristen Wiig in her category. O’Hara had previously won this award for her role in the beloved series “Schitt’s Creek,” highlighting her enduring legacy and impact on the entertainment industry.

Her recognition at the ceremony serves as a powerful reminder of her talent and the heartfelt connections she made throughout her career, leaving a lasting impression on both her peers and fans.
