Cathay Pacific has marked a significant milestone by celebrating 55 years of service at Perth Airport and has announced an expansion in its flight offerings. Starting in October, the airline will operate double daily flights between Perth and Hong Kong, adding three additional flights each week. This increase will lift capacity to 40% above the levels recorded before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019.

Kate Holsgrove, Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer at Perth Airport, highlighted that this enhancement in services underscores Cathay Pacific’s dedication to Western Australia. She pointed out that the airline has been instrumental in connecting the region with Hong Kong and beyond for many years.

In her remarks, Holsgrove emphasized the critical role Cathay Pacific plays in facilitating business travel, tourism, and the movement of international students to Western Australia. Additionally, the boost in services will provide over 200,000 seats available each year on the route, significantly enhancing cargo capacity for local exporters connecting Perth with Hong Kong and other parts of the globe.

The airline operates the Perth-Hong Kong route using the modern A350-900 aircraft. Frosti Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Regional General Manager Southwest Pacific, expressed satisfaction with the increased flights, noting Perth’s vital role in the airline’s network and reaffirming their commitment to customer convenience and expanding connectivity.

This expansion coincides with Cathay Pacific achieving a remarkable milestone of reaching 100 global destinations, highlighting their growth and dedication to enhancing travel and trade opportunities.

The increased connectivity and capacity herald a promising outlook for travelers and businesses in Western Australia, positioning the region for further international engagement and economic growth.
