Tropical Cyclone Urmil is currently advancing east-southeast at approximately 22 kilometers per hour (12 knots), leading to dangerous maritime conditions over adjacent waters. The cyclone is generating significant wave heights that can reach as much as 6.7 meters (22 feet), heightening risks for maritime activities in the region.

As of 5 AM today, Urmil, now categorized as a Category 2 cyclone, was located around 480 kilometers southwest of Kadavu. It continues to move southeast while remaining south of the Fiji Group. Its active rainbands and strong northwesterly winds are already affecting the western and southern parts of the country.

The forecast warns of worsening wind conditions as the day progresses. In the Western Division, including the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, as well as Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, strong north to northwesterly winds are anticipated. Average speeds are expected to hover around 45 kilometers per hour, with gusts potentially reaching 75 kilometers per hour. In the Macuata and Bua provinces, winds will begin at moderate levels but will increase in strength throughout the day, with average speeds of 40 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour.
