On November 8, the Catalan Handball Federation celebrated its 31st Fiesta of Catalan Handball, where they honored FC Barcelona for their outstanding achievements in the sport. Joan Solé, director of the handball section, received the award on behalf of the club, recognizing the first team’s remarkable success in the 2023/24 season. FC Barcelona clinched multiple titles, including the Champions League, Liga ASOBAL, Copa del Rey, Copa Asobal, Supercopa Ibérica, and Supercopa de Catalunya. The youth teams were also acknowledged for their accomplishments.
In addition to FC Barcelona’s accolades, Aleix Gómez and Petar Cikusa were celebrated for winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympic Games. Furthermore, Petar Cikusa, Djorde Cikusa, Ian Barrufet, and Òscar Grau were honored as Junior European Champions for their impressive performances in the sport.
The event took place at the Les Moreres Municipal Sports Complex in Esplugues de Llobregat, drawing an audience of nearly 400 attendees who gathered to celebrate the achievements in Catalan handball.
This recognition highlights the importance of supporting and promoting handball in the region, fostering a sense of community and pride among athletes and fans alike. Celebrating these talented players and teams not only acknowledges their hard work and dedication but also inspires the next generation of handball enthusiasts.
