Carson Beck’s Next Play: Transfer Portal to Miami?

Carson Beck, the quarterback for the University of Georgia, is reportedly set to enter the NCAA transfer portal after previously declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. This decision comes after Beck opted to play another season of college football before pursuing a professional career.

In the 2024 season, Beck had an impressive performance, passing for 3,485 yards and completing 28 touchdown throws against 12 interceptions, achieving a completion rate of 64.7% while leading the Bulldogs to an 11-3 record. His season, however, ended prematurely in the SEC Championship game due to a torn UCL in his right elbow, an injury sustained just before halftime. This injury not only sidelined him for the remainder of the season but also required surgery, which will hinder his ability to showcase his skills to NFL teams.

As reports suggest, Miami is a leading candidate to acquire Beck for the upcoming season, filling the void left by Cam Ward, who became a Heisman finalist in 2024 after utilizing his final season of eligibility. The Hurricanes are keen to solidify their quarterback situation, especially with Ward’s departure, and Beck’s experience and track record could fit their needs well.

In Beck’s absence during critical games, such as the SEC title game and the College Football Playoff matchup against Notre Dame, Gunner Stockton took the helm. Stockton, a junior next season, will be in contention with sophomore Ryan Puglisi for the starting quarterback position moving forward.

Throughout his tenure at Georgia, Beck accumulated notable statistics as a two-year starter, throwing for a total of 7,426 yards and 52 touchdowns in 27 games. He succeeded Stetson Bennett after the program celebrated back-to-back national championships.

This decision marks a significant turning point in Beck’s football journey. By opting for another season in college, he has the opportunity to rehabilitate and improve his skills without the pressure of immediate professional expectations. His upcoming move to Miami could potentially revitalize his career and position him well for the NFL Draft in the future.

As Beck navigates this new chapter, both fans and analysts will be closely watching his recovery and performance in the upcoming season, which could set the stage for an exciting next phase of his football career.
