Carmona’s Bold Move: PSG Welcomes World Cup Star!

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has officially confirmed the signing of Olga Carmona, a prominent player who served as captain for Real Madrid until June of this year. The left-back, who has played a remarkable 186 matches for Madrid since the women’s team’s inception in 2020, has signed a contract with PSG that will keep her at the club until 2028. Carmona expressed her excitement about joining PSG, calling it “an ambitious club with an incredible city” and stated her eagerness to meet her new teammates and contribute to the team’s success.

Carmona is recognized not only for her leadership but also for her significant contributions on the field. She gained international acclaim after scoring the winning goal for Spain in the World Cup final against England on August 20, 2023. Before moving to Paris, she was part of the Real Madrid squad that formed after the club absorbed Tacón, a team established in 2014.

During her five seasons with Madrid, she was a key player, particularly in an offensive role, scoring 28 goals while transitioning from being a winger to the first-choice left-back. The challenge ahead for Carmona at PSG will include competing against Olympique Lyon, which has dominated French women’s football with numerous league titles and Champions League victories.

Despite her achievements with the national team, including winning the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Nations League, Carmona has yet to claim any titles with Real Madrid, where they have struggled against a dominant Barcelona side. Before stepping onto the pitch for PSG, Carmona is expected to join the Spanish national team in Switzerland as they aim for their first Euro Championship title this July.

This move marks a significant step for Carmona as she seeks to establish her impact in a competitive league, and her addition to PSG’s roster may bolster their chances in both domestic and European competitions.
