Carmel native Shaan Mishra made his debut on the Alex Trebek stage once again on Monday, October 27, after a thrilling comeback victory the previous week on “Jeopardy!” Mishra, a management consultant, captivated audiences with his impressive performance, taking first place in the prior episode by leapfrogging from third to first during the final round of the beloved quiz show. His remarkable achievement garnered admiration, including a congratulatory message from Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam on social media.

In his latest appearance, Mishra faced off against Aaron Levine, a sports anchor from Seattle, and Morgan Walker, a marketing director based in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Although he started the game respectably, Mishra found himself trailing behind both Levine and Walker as they approached the final round. Once again in third place, he managed to correctly answer the final question but unfortunately did not wager enough to secure a win.

Mishra finished the night in second place, which was a notable feat given that Walker’s incorrect answer to the final question left her with just $2 remaining. The Final Jeopardy question for October 27 revolved around New England destinations in the category “On the Map.” Host Ken Jennings asked the contestants, “An official American viticultural area spanning multiple states includes this eastern island where you’ll find the town of Chilmark.” Mishra confidently answered, “What is Martha’s Vineyard?” gaining him an additional $4,000, bringing his total to $8,800. However, Walker’s incorrect guess of “What is Long Island?” cost her significantly, allowing Mishra to edge ahead momentarily.

Ultimately, Aaron Levine knew the correct answer and wagered strategically, pushing him into first place with $20,600, leaving Mishra to conclude with winnings of $15,600.

Mishra shared an interesting anecdote about how he found out he would be competing on “Jeopardy!” during a two-and-a-half-month backpacking adventure that spanned 17 countries. He cleverly utilized his travels as a unique study opportunity, asking locals for insights and knowledge. Notably, he explored the Bible while journeying through the Caucasus Mountains in Armenia and Georgia, and learned about popular culture while in India, bringing humor to his experience.

For fans eager to catch “Jeopardy!” it airs nightly at 7:30 p.m. ET from Monday through Saturday on WTHR in Indianapolis. Episodes can also be streamed on platforms like Peacock, Hulu, and DisneyPlus.

Mishra’s journey illustrates the beauty of blending travel with personal passions and highlights how diverse experiences can contribute to success on such a prominent platform.
