The Arizona Cardinals achieved a thrilling 28-27 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, clinching their second consecutive win for the first time since October 2021, thanks to a last-minute field goal by Chad Ryland.

Analyzing the Cardinals’ performance now at a 4-4 record, our Arizona Sports hosts have shared their insights on the team’s potential to seize first place in the NFC West.

Vince Marotta, co-host of Bickley & Marotta Mornings, expressed sheer amazement at the outcome. He noted the resilience of the Cardinals, particularly in light of their defense allowing the Dolphins to convert 11 of 15 third downs. A pivotal stop came midway through the game when a blitz on Tua Tagovailoa forced an incomplete pass, leading to Miami’s second punt. Quarterback Kyler Murray capitalized on the opportunity, showcasing his comfort and command on the field. On a crucial third down, he executed a 7-yard run, extending the drive and forcing Miami to spend timeouts. With Ryland’s presence, a game-winning kick felt inevitable.

Murray not only played a turnover-free game but also revitalized the passing offense against one of the league’s top defenses. His connection with rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was especially notable, with Harrison delivering an impressive diving touchdown catch and making significant plays in critical moments. Tight end Trey McBride also emerged with nine catches and 124 yards, further solidifying his rising star status.

Dave Burns, co-host of Burns & Gambo, emphasized the vision many fans had for this year’s team: a powerful offense led by an improving quarterback, a strong running game, and elite receiving threats. He highlighted Murray’s stellar performance and the offensive line’s ability to protect him amid injuries. However, he pointed to the need for improvement on defense, especially after allowing a high conversion rate on third downs.

John Gambadoro, also co-hosting Burns & Gambo, praised Murray’s performance for exceeding 300 passing yards primarily in the second half, showcasing his ability to deliver under pressure. His decisive plays, including key connections with McBride and Harrison Jr., helped steer the Cardinals toward victory.

Kellan Olson, co-host of Arizona Sports at Night, noted Murray’s exceptional rhythm in the passing game, combining short, intermediate, and deep throws effectively. The duo of Harrison Jr. and McBride both surpassing 100 yards receiving marked a significant achievement, demonstrating their potential as a formidable combination.

Tyler Drake, a Cardinals reporter and co-host of the Cardinals Corner podcast, reflected on the Cardinals’ long-awaited ability to secure back-to-back wins. He highlighted the critical role played by Harrison Jr., whose performance featured a touchdown and solid yardage, and McBride, who had a standout day as well. Despite the win, he acknowledged areas needing improvement, particularly on third downs.

With attention now turning to the Seahawks’ upcoming match against Buffalo, the Cardinals could find themselves in first place in the NFC West, creating an exciting atmosphere as the season progresses.
