Cardinals land G League guard London Johnson to bolster future roster

The University of Louisville men’s basketball team is set to enhance its future roster with the addition of G League guard London Johnson, who has officially committed to join the Cardinals. Johnson has spent the past three years developing his skills in the NBA’s developmental league and is expected to arrive in Louisville this December. He will be eligible to play starting in the 2026-27 season, bringing with him two years of available eligibility.

The university confirmed Johnson’s commitment by sharing his announcement on X, previously known as Twitter, and also featured the news on its social media platforms. Johnson has a long-standing connection with Louisville, having received a scholarship offer in 2021 from then-coach Chris Mack. Although he chose to enter the G League instead of going to college, he has remained on Louisville’s radar. Most recently, during the 2024-25 season, he played for the Maine Celtics, sharpening his game further.

Now, four years after first being courted by the university, Johnson is officially ready to don the Cardinal colors under the guidance of current head coach Pat Kelsey. Ahead of Johnson’s anticipated arrival, the Louisville team will kick off its season with an exhibition game against Kansas this Friday at the KFC Yum! Center, with a tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. This addition marks an exciting development for the program, as they look to build a strong team for the upcoming seasons.
