The Arizona Cardinals’ third season under the current leadership has not met expectations, prompting evaluations of key players as the offseason approaches. Among those under scrutiny is quarterback Kyler Murray, who has spent seven seasons with the team.

Despite his initial success, including winning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and earning two Pro Bowl selections, Murray has struggled to maintain consistent performance as the franchise quarterback, amassing a record of 38 wins, 48 losses, and one tie as a starter in Arizona. His career, while punctuated by standout moments, has often been overshadowed by injuries and overall team performance.

This past season further strained Murray’s standing. After a lackluster start, he was sidelined with a midfoot sprain, ending his season with just two wins in five games. His statistics reflected limited production, totaling 962 passing yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, alongside 173 rushing yards.

The emergence of backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett brought additional questions about Murray’s future with the team. Brissett’s ability to stabilize the offense and operate more comfortably under center has drawn attention, leading to improved performances from tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Michael Wilson. McBride, in particular, flourished with Brissett, scoring ten touchdowns and nearing a thousand receiving yards.

As speculation mounts about Murray’s future, it appears increasingly unlikely he will remain with the Cardinals for the 2026 season. A break from Murray could provide the franchise with an opportunity for restructuring and potentially safer decisions at the quarterback position. For better or worse, this season might signal the end of Murray’s tenure with Arizona, making the upcoming offseason a pivotal point for both the player and the organization.

As the Cardinals prepare for a critical offseason, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see whether this change marks a new direction for the franchise or solidifies the need for further comprehensive changes within the team.
