Cara Delevingne takes on the role of Sir Elton John in a new video for the classic holiday song “Step Into Christmas.” This fresh interpretation is a behind-the-scenes look at the original video released over 50 years ago, where Delevingne, 32, dons an outfit and stylish glasses that mirror those worn by the iconic singer-songwriter in 1973.

Originally reaching No. 24 in the UK Top 40 and topping the Billboard Christmas singles chart upon its release in November 1973, “Step Into Christmas” is a staple of the holiday season. Delevingne, who shares a close friendship with John, expressed her admiration, saying, “Elton has always been an idol of mine… To be asked by him to play him in this recreation was a dream that I didn’t know I had until it happened.”

In her playful spirit, she added a humorous hope that John might reciprocate by playing her in her hypothetical biopic one day.

The charming new video showcases the production team as they prepare for the arrival of Elton John, putting efforts into creating a “Christmassy enough” atmosphere for the celebration.

Elton John himself reflected on their collaboration, recalling a conversation at Glastonbury last summer about potential creative partnerships. He noted that when the idea of Delevingne portraying him in a modern twist on the original Christmas video was suggested, it struck him as a fantastic opportunity. He remarked, “Thank God Cara thought the same, because it came out great.”

In addition to this video, John recently debuted a documentary titled “Elton John: Never Too Late” on Disney+, and he continued to share new music with the release of “Never Too Late,” a song co-written with Grammy-winning artist Brandi Carlile.

This delightful collaboration between two talented artists adds a fresh twist to a beloved classic, showcasing their shared humor and creativity while bringing holiday cheer to fans old and new.
