Actor and model Cara Delevingne portrays Sir Elton John in a new video for the song “Step Into Christmas.” This latest production serves as a modern reimagining of the original video released over 50 years ago. Delevingne, 32, emulates John’s classic style, donning a suit and glasses similar to those the iconic musician wore in the 1973 version.

When first released in November 1973, “Step Into Christmas” climbed to No. 24 on the UK Top 40 and topped the Billboard Christmas singles chart. Delevingne shared her admiration for John, stating, “Elton has always been an idol of mine. His music has had a profound effect on me. Portraying him in this recreation was a dream I didn’t know I had until it happened. I wish I could pretend to be Elton every day.”

In a humorous twist, Delevingne hopes John might someday reciprocate her role and portray her in an imagined biopic.

The vibrant video showcases a production team prepping for John’s arrival while ensuring that the set meets the holiday spirit’s expectations. John reflected on their collaboration, mentioning a conversation he had with Delevingne at Glastonbury last summer, exploring their desire to work together. He expressed joy at the suggestion that she portray him in the throwback to the 1973 video, calling it the perfect opportunity.

Additionally, John’s documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late” was released on Disney+ on December 13. Alongside this, he recently debuted the song “Never Too Late,” which he co-wrote with Grammy-winning artist Brandi Carlile.

This collaboration between Delevingne and John offers a delightful blend of nostalgia and modern creativity, showcasing the enduring appeal of John’s music and the connection he shares with a new generation of artists. It’s also a reminder of how music can bridge gaps across generations and bring people together in a festive spirit.
