Disney is optimistic that Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” will garner significant awards recognition as it prepares for the upcoming Academy Awards. Released in February in the United States, this latest installment in the Captain America saga is directed by Julius Onah and features Anthony Mackie stepping into the role of Sam Wilson/Captain America. The film also stars Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Ross/Red Hulk.

On Disney’s For Your Consideration page, the studio announced its ambitions for the Oscars, most notably campaigning for Best Picture. Should this award be won, it would be awarded to producers Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. While the film has faced mixed critical reviews, holding a 46 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, it has resonated more positively with audiences, achieving a 76 percent on the Popcornmeter. Financially, “Captain America: Brave New World” has performed well, grossing around $415.1 million worldwide.
