The Washington Capitals are set to conclude their three-game homestand on Saturday evening, welcoming the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers to Capital One Arena for a matchup that kicks off at 7:00 p.m.

This will mark the third meeting between the two teams this season, with the Panthers having already claimed victory in both previous matchups. The Capitals are eager to turn the tide as they prepare for an extended road trip following this contest. In conjunction with the game, the Capitals will be celebrating their annual Pride Night.

Unfortunately, the Capitals will be without key players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, as well as Tom Wilson (lower body), Justin Sourdif (upper body), and Jakob Chychrun (illness). Sourdif’s recent placement on injured reserve has further complicated the team’s roster situation.

The Capitals have shown signs of resilience, having split their previous two games during the homestand. They managed to come back and edge out a 3-2 victory against Montreal on Tuesday, but fell short against San Jose on Thursday, losing 3-2. In that game, Dylan Strome scored during a power play to give the Capitals an early lead, only for San Jose to respond with three unanswered goals in a swift sequence.

As they face the Panthers, the Capitals have struggled to find consistency, having not secured back-to-back wins since early December. Their record stands at 3-4-1 in the eight games played thus far in 2026, revealing ongoing challenges that stem largely from injuries and inconsistency. The team has struggled to maintain their performance throughout the entirety of their games.

Meanwhile, the Panthers arrive in Washington following a six-game road trip. After a mixed start to their journey, they experienced a tough outing against Carolina, who dominated them 9-1 on Friday night.

The anticipated player lines for the Capitals include forwards Alex Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and Ethen Frank, alongside defensemen Martin Fehervary and John Carlson. The Panthers’ roster will feature forwards like Eetu Luostarinen and Anton Lundell.

Fans can catch the action on the Monumental Sports Network or tune in via 106.7 The Fan/Caps Radio Network. This matchup promises to be a critical test for the Capitals as they seek to regain momentum and build some much-needed confidence.
