Candice Swanepoel is embracing her return to the catwalk as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show makes a grand comeback. The acclaimed model, who debuted with the brand in 2007, recently shared her thoughts with Us Weekly ahead of the highly anticipated event scheduled for October 15 in Brooklyn, New York.
Reflecting on her extensive career as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, Swanepoel expressed her excitement about still being part of such a significant show. “For somebody that’s been [walking in the show] for so many years, I’m happy to still be here,” she said, highlighting the importance of representing femininity and confident womanhood. She further noted how moments on the runway serve as reminders of her own strength, saying, “Today, we’re these powerful, gorgeous women, and in my day-to-day life, I don’t feel like that.”
Swanepoel is particularly thrilled about making her return to the Victoria’s Secret runway after a five-year break. Despite the nerves that accompany such a significant event, she maintains a positive outlook. “I always want to do my best, and each year I get more nervous,” she admitted. Yet, she balances her apprehension with excitement and a mantra of self-encouragement: “Just breathe through it and try to have fun.”
A standout memory from her illustrious career includes her unforgettable moment in 2013 when she opened the show wearing the extravagant $10 million Fantasy Bra, adorned with over 5,400 gems and meticulously crafted in 18-karat gold. “I never thought I would have done my first show in the first place so each show is a gift,” she shared of her experiences.
Swanepoel also stays connected with fellow Angels, who she describes as more than just colleagues. “We formed a sisterhood,” she remarked, discussing how they support each other through the pressures of the industry. This bond has extended to playful group chats, reflecting their close-knit community.
As excitement builds ahead of the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, fans will be able to catch the stunning performances live on various streaming platforms, including YouTube and Prime Video, further ensuring that the legacy of the fashion show continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
