The Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Sashi Kiran, and the Canadian High Commissioner to Fiji, Her Excellency Jennifer Lalonde, warmly welcomed Canada’s Secretary of State for International Development, Hon. Randeep Sarai, at Nadi International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. This marks Hon. Sarai’s inaugural visit to Fiji, where he will be staying for three days and engaging in various activities across Nadi, Sigatoka, and Suva.

During his visit, Hon. Sarai is set to tour several Canadian-funded initiatives and meet with local partners to enhance Canadian trade and development cooperation in Fiji. A key highlight of his trip will be the announcement of the Pacific Women Entrepreneurs as Island Guardians Project for the years 2024 to 2028, which aims to support women entrepreneurs across Fiji, Samoa, and Tuvalu.

Additionally, Hon. Sarai is scheduled to officially inaugurate Canada’s High Commission in Suva later this week, signifying a strengthening of diplomatic ties and commitment to regional development. Throughout his time in Fiji, he will also engage in bilateral discussions with senior government officials, representatives from the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, and other essential stakeholders.

This visit emphasizes the ongoing collaboration between Canada and Fiji, aiming to foster economic growth and development opportunities within the region.
