While the study found no substantial differences in overall employment rates between the groups, it revealed that recipients of the larger payments primarily used the funds for essential needs such as food, housing, and transportation. Additionally, the assistance helped address various health needs, including treatment for alcoholism and the ability to afford braces. Although the payments initially alleviated stress, many of the mental health benefits seemed to diminish after two years.
