“Can Cam Rising Lead Utah to Victory Despite Key Injuries?”

TEMPE, Arizona – Kyle Whittingham and the Utah football team are in Tempe for a Friday night showdown against the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The Utes have faced significant injuries this season, but the recent bye week provided a chance for recovery. Here’s the latest on Utah’s injury situation ahead of the game.

Is Cam Rising returning?

According to Brett McMurphy from ActionNetwork, Cam Rising is expected to start against Arizona State. However, many who follow Utah football are skeptical, waiting to see confirmation right before kickoff. There has been notable uncertainty regarding Rising’s status, but sources told KSL Sports that he is set to return tonight unless something unexpected occurs. Rising reportedly took the majority of first-team reps during practices this week.

Supportive reports have surfaced, and @Brett_McMurphy has announced that Cam Rising is anticipated to be back in action this Friday night.

Defensive line facing challenges

Utah’s defensive line has been tested, especially after defensive end Connor O’Toole injured himself early in the game against Utah State. O’Toole has not returned since and is not expected to play tonight. He will be joined on the sidelines by defensive tackle Keanu Tanuvasa, who is also anticipated to miss the game.

With Aliki Vimahi unavailable, true freshman Dallas Vakalahi is expected to start in his place, while Simote Pepa will see playing time as well.

Linebacker depth issues

Veteran linebacker Karene Reid has been sidelined since suffering an injury late in the game against Baylor. Although he is nearing a comeback, Reid is not yet ready to return. The linebacker position has faced further depletion with the absence of both Reid and Levani Damuni, as well as Sione Fotu, who is also expected to miss tonight’s game.

Consequently, Hall, Lander Barton, and Trey Reynolds will need to lead the way in the linebacker roles.
