Cameron Brink is seeing a promising future as she prepares to return to the court after a challenging 13-month recovery from a torn ACL suffered last June. The 6-foot-4 forward for the Los Angeles Sparks expressed her gratitude for the support from the team, which allowed her to take the time needed for her rehabilitation.
“I feel great. I’m super thankful that the Sparks have let me take my time and really feel great coming back,” Brink shared after a recent shootaround. She has been diligently working towards her return and spent additional time on the practice court following the team’s pregame session.
Brink noted the extensive effort she has put into her recovery, highlighting the behind-the-scenes work with her trainers, saying, “I’ve put in a lot of hard work… what people usually see is me living my life normally, but people don’t see the hours and hours that I put in the gym.”
Although Sparks coach Lynne Roberts stated that Brink would not be playing against the Liberty on Saturday, she expressed optimism about Brink’s return, especially with several upcoming home games. The mental aspect of recovery has been challenging for Brink, as she has navigated the emotions of being sidelined and watching her teammates compete.
Throughout her rehab journey, Brink has found ways to stay engaged, including starting a podcast and completing her degree at Stanford. She reflects on the difficulty of recovery, acknowledging that while she’s excited to return, she must be patient with her progress. Before her injury, Brink averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.
