Calle Rosen Returns to Blues in AHL Shake-Up Between Blues and Capitals

This morning, a significant trade occurred between the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals, involving the reshuffling of players affecting their AHL affiliates for the current season. The Blues have dispatched defenseman Corey Schueneman to the Capitals in exchange for Calle Rosen. Additionally, they traded Sam Bitten to the Hershey Bears for future considerations.

Calle Rosen has made an impact with the Bears, where he shared the team lead in points and topped the squad in assists with six. His return to the Thunderbirds marks a homecoming, as he previously played for them during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, totaling 108 games that yielded 61 points, primarily through assists. Rosen brings a wealth of AHL experience with 360 games under his belt, amassing 198 points including 36 goals along with a record of being a plus-eight. His versatility extends to the NHL, where he has participated in 93 games and registered 31 points.

On the other side, Corey Schueneman will now be joining the Hershey Bears, making this his fifth AHL team. Over his extensive career in the AHL, Schueneman has played 316 games, racking up 116 points, and boasts a solid plus-minus of +28. His NHL experience includes 35 games, during which he tallied 7 points.

Also involved in the trade is forward Sam Bitten, who has been with the Springfield Thunderbirds for three seasons. While he has struggled this season without any points in four games and is currently at a minus-one, Bitten has potential and experience, having accumulated nine points across 93 AHL games.

This trade not only reflects the strategic adjustments both teams are making but also offers a fresh start for the involved players as they aim to contribute to their new teams. Fans can look forward to witnessing how these changes will unfold in their performance on the ice.
