Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, the Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has strongly condemned the recent shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch that resulted in the deaths of Sikh community members and damage to a gurdwara. He expressed that the incident, particularly the attack on Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, signifies a deeper tragedy, impacting humanity as a whole.

Calling for peaceful resolutions, Jathedar Gargaj emphasized the need for diplomatic initiatives between India and Pakistan to ease the escalating tensions. He urged both nations to approach the situation with wisdom rather than resorting to military force.

Reports indicate that at least 10 civilians lost their lives and over 40 were injured due to heavy shelling by Pakistani troops across the Line of Control in response to India’s Operation Sindoor. This violence not only inflicted casualties but also caused significant destruction, with numerous homes damaged or set ablaze, prompting residents to evacuate to safer locations.

Among the deceased were Bhai Amreek Singh, soldier Bhai Amarjeet Singh, and Bhai Ranjit Singh, a local shopkeeper. Jathedar Gargaj highlighted that their untimely deaths reflect the ongoing suffering since the conflict began in 1947, affecting all communities in the region, including Hindus and Sikhs.

“The enduring conflict continues to take a toll on innocent lives,” emphasized Gargaj, appealing for prayers for the deceased and their families. He urged residents of border areas to support each other, draw strength from their faith, and maintain hope for peace amidst adversity.

As families in Poonch flee towards Jammu in search of safety, the call for unity and resilience is more crucial than ever, demonstrating the strength of community and faith in turbulent times.
