Cal Raleigh’s All-Star Glory: A Mariners’ Dream Realized

Cal Raleigh has officially earned his spot as the starting catcher for the American League at the 2025 All-Star Game, a significant achievement for the Seattle Mariners’ player. Raleigh secured his position by successfully winning Phase 2 of the PRO SPIRIT MLB All-Star Ballot, edging out Toronto’s Alejandro Kirk for the honor.

Reflecting on his achievement, Raleigh expressed gratitude to his family, friends, and fans for their support, acknowledging the efforts of the Mariners’ creative team. With over three million votes cast in his favor, Raleigh was among the top vote-getters, only behind Aaron Judge. His performance leading up to the All-Star selection has been remarkable; he tops MLB with 33 home runs and 71 RBIs, and has set records for the most home runs by a catcher and switch-hitter before the All-Star break.

Raleigh has also positioned himself as a contender in the AL MVP conversation, highlighting his exceptional stats, including his placement in the upper echelon for on-base percentage and slugging percentage. He stated that despite the attention, his focus remains on the game and his commitment to winning for the team.

Additionally, Raleigh will participate in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on July 14, with support from his father and brother. The Mariners, while currently without any other announced All-Stars, will receive further roster information during an ESPN telecast.

Raleigh’s journey from the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft to becoming an All-Star starter underscores the hard work and commitment shown not only by him but also by the Mariners’ coaching staff who recognized his potential early on.

This feels like a turning point for Raleigh and the Mariners as they look ahead, instilling hope for fans eager to see their team succeed in the upcoming postseason.
